About Eric

Eric Schlissel has spent the last 10 years at the helm of notable IT and Social Media companies and is a Social Media Strategy Consultant.

Schlissel began his technical consulting career in 1996 establishing his own company, Ornaco Technologies. Ornaco specialized in small office networks. The company was acquired and integrated into a national IT management firm in 1997.

In 1998 Mr. Schlissel formed Be Computing, Inc. The company specialized in software and hardware integration for government agencies and Fortune 1000 clients. Be Computing was an early champion of the open source movement, delivering workstations with open source operating systems to the scientific community. As the demand for web presence began to increase, Schlissel expanded his network of companies.

In 2000, he launched Geek Teknologies Inc. The new company focused on web consultancy to an emerging small to medium size business sector beginning to leverage the Internet. An authoritative resource for web hosting and development, Geek Teknologies became immersed in the expansion of interactive applications and technologies, increasing their knowledge base and suite of services to its customers.

TalentPages.com was founded in 2001. An online casting service, TalentPages was ahead of its time. It provided profiles and community features for the acting community. Casting directors found talent through the site for commercials for Coors, Target, and music videos for artists including Britney Spears. Schlissel himself appears in Eminem’s music video for his single “Without Me.”

In 2003 Mr. Schlissel launched Omotion LLC – a web-based software suite for managing online and offline street team and viral marketing campaigns. Clients included Madonna, Los Lonely Boys, Ray J and other artists. Omotions’ community had over 500,000 members and 30 artists.

Stimulated by his early interest in social networks, Schlissel formed Social Platform LLC in 2005 as a web-based software venture to capitalize on his vision. Social Platform was one of the first white label social network software companies and enjoyed tremendous growth in its three and a half years of operation. Client communities reached the million-member mark. In addition to coining the term “Social Platform,” Mr. Schlissel developed other innovations, such as “hub-and-spoke” architectures, multi-site technology, and cross-context modules. ONEsite Inc acquired social Platform LLC. in February of 2008.

Mr. Schlissel complemented his affinity for computers and technology developed in his secondary educational environment with a degree in Cultural Anthropology in the 1990’s. Having graduated from one of the top schools in the country, Schlissel spent time on BBS systems and became fascinated with the possibilities and impact of the Internet.

A Long Island native, Schlissel is a resident of Los Angles, CA.
